Professor Victor Mngomezulu has over 25 years’ experience as a general radiologist and 12 years as a subspecialist, Interventional Neuroradiologist. His professional accomplishments include previously chairing the Academic Departments of Radiology at the Setako Makgato and the Witwatersrand universities as well as heading Clinical Radiology Departments at the Dr George Mukhari, Charlotte Maxeke and Chris Hani Baragwanath Academic Hospitals in the last 18 years. He serves in various official capacities in the Colleges of Medicine of South Africa (CMSA) and the Health Professionals Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
He is a director of the fist Interventional Neuro Radiology Unit in the public sector in Gauteng which he established at the Wits academic complex in 2010 and now provides this state of the art service in the Private sector as well. He has vast experience in this field, performing over 200 procedures per annum. These entail endovascular management of Brain and Spinal conditions such as Intracranial Aneurysms, Brain and Spinal Arterio Venous Malformations (AVMs), Dural Arterio Venous Fistula (DAVFs), Head and Neck Tumour Embolization and Now management of Acute Ischemic Stroke as well as other General Body Vascular Interventions. He is an ardent long distance runner with 10 Two Oceans and 8 Comrades amongst other marathons completed thus far.
